Editorial Management Process
The journal's editorial process is conducted in accordance with principles of scientific quality, transparency, publication ethics, and methodological rigor. The stages involved in the evaluation and publication of manuscripts are described below.
Phase 1: Initial Editorial Assessment and Assignment
At this stage, the manuscript is screened to verify compliance with the journal’s editorial policies, thematic scope, and formal submission requirements. The manuscript is then assigned to an editor responsible for overseeing the editorial process.
➡️ Manuscripts that do not meet the basic requirements will be rejected without proceeding to external review.
Phase 2: Submission Integrity Review
The completeness of the submission is assessed, including manuscript structure, formatting, supporting documentation, and compliance with ethical requirements, such as conflict of interest disclosures and informed consent statements, when applicable.
Phase 3: Similarity Assessment (Plagiarism Screening)
The manuscript is evaluated using specialized text-similarity detection tools to ensure the originality of its content.
➡️ If unacceptable levels of textual similarity are identified, the manuscript may be rejected or returned to the authors for correction.
Phase 4: Peer Review
Manuscripts that successfully pass the previous stages undergo external peer review under an academic evaluation process. Reviewers assess the methodological quality, scientific relevance, originality, and overall contribution of the study.
➡️ The outcome of this stage may be: acceptance with revisions, major revision, or rejection.
Phase 5: Editorial Decision
The handling editor makes a decision based on the reviewers’ reports, determining whether the manuscript will proceed in the editorial process or be rejected.
Phase 6: Comprehensive Technical Review
Approved manuscripts enter a comprehensive technical review stage, which includes the following components:
- Language Review
Assessment of language quality, particularly in the title, abstract, and keywords in English. - Metadata Review
Verification of the accuracy and completeness of author information, institutional affiliations, ORCID identifiers, keywords, and indexing-related metadata. - Style Review
Editing for clarity, grammar, consistency, and compliance with the journal’s editorial standards (e.g., Vancouver style).
Phase 7: Final Editorial Approval
Once all technical corrections have been incorporated, the editor performs a final validation of the manuscript and authorizes its progression to the production stage.
Phase 8: Editorial Production and Graphic Editing
The article undergoes layout design and typesetting in its final format, including PDF preparation, formatting of tables and figures, and adaptation to the journal’s visual identity.
Phase 9: Pre-publication Review
The final version of the article is sent to the authors for review and final approval, allowing any remaining errors to be identified and corrected before publication.
Phase 10: Article Publication
The article is officially published in the journal and assigned the corresponding identifiers (ISSN, DOI, among others), making it available through the journal’s digital platform.
Phase 11: Dissemination and Visibility
Following publication, the article is disseminated through academic networks, repositories, indexing services, and institutional communication channels to enhance its visibility and scientific impact.
